479 Area Code calls and "Verizon Tech Service" scams

rcvd a call on 1 jan 14 from a 479 area code #.  didn't answer (don't know anyone from Grenada), then saw a news report that "phonebot" scam calls are being made from the # i rcvd, too.  lastnight saw aother news report on a new scam using "Verizon Tech Support" and cloning the verizon tech support number to reverse charges at an exorbitant billing rate.   called the real Verizon Customer Service line to let them know, as news reports and official work guidance had recommended.  well, apparently Verizon customer support and their "security team" don't know anything about these scams, and "if it is real, customers would have been contacting us, which they have not."  WOW!   news media in North Dakota, Minnesota and Utah have been reporting this for the past fews days, and i have rcvd both 479 AND TECH SUPPORT calls...   if reverse charges show up on my account, verizon has been notified, and we will deal with that then...    seems Verizon would be somewhat concerned that someone is disguising a scam as "VERIZON TECH SUPPORT"     WOW

Reminds me of the calls I got before. They were recorded messages, all telling that Verizon needs to speak with me about my account and that I needed to call them right away. But I knew it was a bluff and ignored the messages.
