Upgrades?

I'm looking to upgrade to the HTC One when it's released but I have one question. A while ago I heard that you are actually eligible for an upgrade after 20 months, you don't have to wait the full 24 months. Is that true? If so, are there and hidden fees (like paying the full retail for my existing or new phone) or is it straight up like the 2 year upgrade? I'm not talking about the new Edge program, I don't want to be apart of that.

If you signed your last contract AFTER Jan 1, 2012, you must wait 24 months to upgrade.

If you signed your contract BEFORE Jan 1, 2012, you can upgrade at 20 months. There is no add'l charge but the $30 upgrade fee. And if you have unlimited data right now, you will have to choose a new tiered data plan

So I'll still get the phone at a subsidized price like a normal upgrade? That's wonderful, I'm due for a 24 month upgrade this September but my phone is getting kind of raggedy and slow so I'd like to not have to wait that extra month.

Yes, CURRENTLY if you have completed 20 months of your 2 yr contract, you would be eligible for a discounted upgrade just as if you had completed your entire contract. No extra fees.

For contracts signed on or after January of 2012, that will no longer be the case. You will have to wait the entire 24 months of your contract before being able to upgrade at a discount.

So if you have already completed 20 months of your contract., you should be all set. If you will have completed 20 months in September, you will have to wait until you complete the full 24 months of your contract before upgrading at a discount.

Yes, there is a $30.00 upgrade fee accessed when you purchase a new phone with a discount. This fee is added for all upgrades.
