I have been with Verizon for 9+5 years (they corrected me just now when I said 14 years) and I have just changed carriers. When I ported my number 9 days before my contract end date I was never told I would be charged an early termination fee of $60. From all my questions to make this process seamless was I not told of this by Verizon. It was my understanding that I would pay out the 9 remaining days and get my final bill. Right now I have been on hold with the third person in my quest for a reason why they wouldn't tell me there would be a 9 day term fee FOR 37 MINUTES ALREADY. Keep in mind I have made two previous calls and since I wanted to talk to a manager I was informed I might have to wait an hour on hold before I talk to one. My gut says they will say the exact same thing "you received paperwork 9+5 years ago regarding your contract and you should know that porting your number out automatically cancels your account thus you paying an early term fee (the 9 days). I understand you were not told that and were willing to pay out your contract for the 9 remaining days but you still have to pay it".
To add to this finale, I recently cancelled a second line that had no contract and they would not pro-rate that for the billing cycle but instead charged me over two weeks of the phone not even being on to extend to the end of their billing cycle!!
