old Sim card to new phone?

I was given a verizon S4 from a friend & was wondering if I could just take my sims card from my exisiting HTC Incredible 2 & put in the new S4. Would I have to go through the process of activating the device on verizon? Or would I need to go to verizon to have it activated?

The Dinc2 was just a 3G global ready smartphone, correct?

You will need a new SIM card from either a corporate store, calling customer service or you can request one be shipped to you when you try to activate the new device online in your MyVerizon account. You existing plan including data should not change since this would be considered a "Bring Your Own Device (BYOD).

I am trying to keep my unlimited data, & don't want Verizon to have any reason to cancel it, so I was hoping I could just change them out. I figured I would have to go to store. Thanks.

When you bring your own device, they don't need to change your plan. If they are saying otherwise, they are lying or ignorant. You can just get a new 4G LTE SIM card and keep your unlimited data plan.

+1 to what Ann154 said. Do not let anyone change your unlimited data plan for any reason. I just activated a 4G phone with a new SIM card (also coming from an Incredible 2), and I did not have to change anything.

You should have the option of picking up the SIM card from the Verizon store and activating it online at home. When it indicates you must select a new plan, you should see the unlimited data option.
