What does roadside assistance cover exactly?

Hi i recently called and tried to use my roadside assistance for the first time. I was confused on where i was going and ended up on a road that was snow covered and it was the incorrect road. I was not even 100yards from the main road. I was informed by the tow truck driver that this was not covered under my roadside and he couldnt get me because he too would get stuck. So he called someone else and they got me off the snow slicked road, and i had to pay $100 for the tow. so my question is what is covered because i told the woman i was on a road with a slight hill and just couldnt reverse in my little car

I'm glad you are ok! I can provide additional clarity. Roadside Assistance covers battery boost, tire service, fuel delivery, lockout service, extricating/winching, and towing. It sounds as if your situation would have been considered winching. Winching is when the vehicle can be reached safely from a normally traveled road or established thoroughfare. Roadside will provide winching service to extract the vehicle from mud, sand or a ditch within 100 feet of the roadway and you will be covered up to $100 otherwise additional fees may apply. If you were approximately 100 yards from the main road and not within 100 feet this could be the cause of the $100 charge. You can apply for a reimbursement consideration up to $80 by submitting the orginal receipt (with the cell phone number on the receipt and your name on receipt). If you received a reference number when calling into Roadside please include that as well. Please mail this to Verizon Wireless P.O. Box 5039 Carol Stream, Illinois 60197. Please make a copy of everything for yourself but you must send in the orginal receipt. This can take up to 7-14 business days to process.  Thank you.
