Droid Eris home button issue

Hello. Recently, I been having issues with the home button on my Droid Eris device. Normally, when I push the home button, it takes me to the HTC sense home screen, and then if I hold it, it displays recent apps, and then i push it again it will take me back to the home screen.

Heres what happens now:

-I push the home button and it takes me to the HTC sense home screen

-I hold it, and it displays my recently apps, but lists HTC Sense as one of the recently used apps (which it usually doesnt)

-Then I push the home button again, and it asks if I would like to complete the action using the regular "Home" app or the "HTC Sense" app.

-if I push "use this application as default for this action", after I repeat the process, it asks me again.

Has this happened to anyone else? what cuold be causing it?

Is there no way to fix this problem? I'd really like to avoid a hard reset if I can.

Sense is after all an "app", but built into the firmware itself.

Have you just attempted to reboot and then set Sense as the "Default" when prompted? Sense is listed in settings-->applications, pehaps you can look around in there too.

I've rebooted many times, and it keeps asking me to choose an application and whether or not I would like to set one as the default

After looking around the "manage applications" in the "settings" app, here's what's happening:

- After I hit the home button and set Sense as the default, it saves it, because it gives me the option to "clear defaults" in "manages applications".

-After I hold the home button to view recent apps, though, it seems to clear the default that was set for HTC Sense. After viewing recent apps, and then viewing the HTC Sense app in "manage applications", it says that there are no defaults set. So viewing recent apps is deleting the default that I set for HTC Sense...

Any Help?!

Same problem here, it doesn't happen all the time though. Just every now and then. This is my second Eris, my first one had to be replaced after less than a month because of a freezing issue. Never had the home button issue on the first one, and my husband hasn't had it either.
