How to transition to prepaid account

I've just transferred my Android device to a prepaid plan and was told that I have about $5 in my account. But my account says I'm disconnected from a plan. Do I have to register under another user name or what do I do to create a payment source for the new service?

I was also made aware of a Verizon plan that allows 4G smartphones on prepaid plans but I'm not getting the same impression from some of the conversations I have read here in the last few days. What's up with that?

Let's get you in action with your new Prepaid service! Did you previously have a postpaid account? If so, you will have to register a new user name for My Verizon. You can also dial *611 right from your handset, using the automated system to add funds to your account. We are always dedicated to offering you the latest and greatest products and services. At this time, 4G devices cannot be activated on the prepaid system. Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
