What is best day of billing cycle for me to leave Verizon?

My contract has been completed for a couple of months. I plan to leave Verizon.

My billing cycle ends July 12th. If I leave the company on that day, what steps

do I take to port out my number? I read similar posts on here but, the ones who

posted were still under contract. I am not under contract. Thank you so much for

any valid advice you can give me.

If I was going to leave, which I'm not, I would open an account with another provider and ask them to port my numbers about 7 to 10 days before the end of my current billing cycle. I would rather be a few days early than one minute late because you will get billed for an entire month and there are no refunds.

Actually its easy when you have no contract. Since you want to leave do it before your bill closing date on the next month.

in example I ported my one line to T-Mobile before my July 4, 2013 bill end date.

Do it before not after your closing date. My line is now ended so I will not be billed for an extra month of service on that line.

it took T-Mobile less than three hours to port my number over. They did offer a temporary number but I said I was not in a hurry.
