This is not a question, merely a commentary on how this company has taken a downward turn over the years I have been a customer.
It's quite obvious that Verizon no longer cares about their customers, only about squeezing every last penny out of us with any excuse you can. It has gotten to the point where even though I've been a loyal customer for at least 7-8 years now that I may be cancelling when my contract is finished because your services are now so outrageously priced for nothing more than anyone else is offering that it's not in anyone's best interest to stay.
I still have my family plan with 700 minutes between 3 phones, unlimited text and unlimited data on my line. That being said, if I choose to stick around, I'll be forced to give up the plan that works for me in favor of one that does not and pay more for it. These "share everything" plans are a rip off. I currently pay $30 for my data, which I have no problem with as long as it is unlimited and you expect me to be happy about paying the same for a mere 2GB? Which, by the way, will be shared among the 3 lines on my plan. Wake up Verizon, the competition is giving you a run for your money on this one.
Now, I recently activated a basic phone to replace a damaged one on my line and am forced to pay $10 a month for data the phone won't even use? It is not a smart phone, if I wanted a smart phone on that line then I would buy one and pay for data. From what I've heard from friends I have that work for your company, this is becoming standard for all phones, even basic ones. This is highway robbery and just another chance to squeeze more money out of your customers. It's bad enough your data fees are laughably high, now you have the nerve to charge them on non-smart phones too?
Your customer service people on the phone have been in slow decline as well. Stop outsourcing or paying people $7.25 an hour to read a script instead of actually trying to help your customers. You make enough money, don't skimp on the service because anymore this is what people's decisions are coming down to.
Your coverage area does not entitle you to the right to charge exorbitant fees for your service. I've gotten to the point where I would rather pay half of what I am and deal with 1 or 2 dropped calls a month. I came from Nextel right after Sprint bought them, I know what a horrible coverage map looks like and even then my service wasn't all that bad.
Stop trying to "improve" things and go back to where you were, a reasonably priced carrier with solid coverage and good customer service instead of trying to rip off your customers. Bring back the old plans, bring back unlimited data - you can't tell me with a straight face that the amount of people that use a lot of data vs those that use a minuscule amount were really making you lose money, $30 a month is already a lot of money for something that isn't a necessity. I would love to stick with the carrier I trusted and phones I liked, but I'm tired of feeling like I'm being robbed blind and being charged any fee you can come up with. You're not so big now that you can abuse the people that pay your salaries.
