A few months ago I lost my job and was also in the midst of a divorce. I contacted Verizon to request waiving the early termination fees on two lines that were being no longer being used by my ex-wife. Attempts to make her responsible for the fees were unsuccessful. I stopped in my local store and contacted customer service. Each time I was told emphatically 'NO' that the fees could not be waived. Shame on you Verizon for being so greedy and uncaring. And please don't point out that the termination fees are part of the service contract. I get that but exceptions can be made. There are a lot of other individuals struggling with hard circumstances. Many companies, Verizon included, tout they are customer service oriented but have no idea what true customer service is and have no interest in serving their customers. I'm not asking for a handout. I'm simply asking that a 'fee' be waived. It's only a fee, a number on a piece of paper. Yes, you will say that the fee covers you for lost revenue or something. Again, selfish, selfish, selfish. For the near future you have me 'over the barrel' but that will change once the contract on my last line expires.
