Unlimited Data Account Mess--- Please Help

Hello. I have a family plan with

Line 1 - Unlimited data
Line 2 - Unlimited data
Line 3 - 2gig limit

Line 4 - 2gig limit

All are available for upgrades. The people on Lines 3 and 4 could move to a Share Everything account leaving the 2 unlimited people with the 4 lines. Does this work?!

1) Use the two 2gig lines upgrades to get discounted phones

2) Move the phones to the unlimited data lines.

3) Drop the 2gig lines to basic.
Tada! Have knew phones on unlimited plans.

But then...

4) After 1 year transfer the unlimited lines upgrades to the basic lines.
5) Upgrade those lines again getting new discounted phones.

6) Transfer them to the unlimited lines

7) Repeat?

Is this possible. From what I've read people have used basic lines in order to switch and swap upgrades and phones. Is there anything that would stop this?

Transferring an upgrade still involves a new contract on the original line eligible so by adding a contract onto your unlimited lines you'd lose the unlimited.

I would just leave them as is. The only way you would lose Unlimited on Line 1 and or Line 2 is to upgrade those lines. To keep unlimited on those lines you would either keep the phone you have, Buy a used phone, buy a phone at full retail and put it on the line. Line 3 and Line 4 you can update or upgrade all you want and it will not touch Line 1 or 2. The Share your wallet plan may work out for you in this case but I would really do the math. I looked at the Share your wallet plan for my son and I and it is $40.00 or so more expensive then what we have and he has Unlimited Data, and I 2gb data.

This is not correct.

You can transfer your upgrade to another line, and the phone number that is actually upgraded will lose unlimited data. The original line with unlimited data will not lose it, but will have its contract extended. I have done this multiple times on my account and verified it is correct. Even the store reps get confused. Just follow the prompts online to transfer the upgrade and upgrade a phone and you'll see that it only adjusts the plan on the phone line getting the new device.

You are wrong. If you take an unlimited data line that has an upgrade an transfer it that unlimited data lines gets it's contract extended and it also loses unlimited data. The policy change on June 28th 2012 was very clear. Unlimited data lines can not upgrade nor can they sign 2 year contracts once their current contract is up.

I received the Note 3 with unlimited data on launch day by following this

procedure:

1) Going to the retail store. Telling the store associate I wanted to

transfer the upgrade from my line that has unlimited data to a family

member's line.

2) Upgraded and purchased the Note 3. During the purchase process, a 2GB

plan is added my family members line (NOT MINE). You can go through the

checkout yourself to see.

3) Went home, and used the online tool to swap the phones. Since I had a

S3 previously, I was able to just swap the LTE cards and complete the

process myself.

4) Verified unlimited data active on the account (see screenshot).

Stop with the hypotheticals; this process has been repeated by many

people. You are probably that same guy on the Disqus forums claiming the

same thing.

I have my smartphone with unlimited data that I want to upgrade to iphone 5s but keep my unlimited data. On the same account I have a dumb phone which used to be my son's line but he doesn't use it now. I kept the dumbphone bc Vzw told me i would lose my unlimited data if I dc'd the line.

Sooo I need to upgrade his line with an iphone 5s, add a data plan just to activate it on his line. After activating it on his line, transfer the phone to my line with unlimited data. Then cancel his data plan. Right?

that will extend HIS contract two years, correct? so I cant cancel his line....But his line will return to the original price I was paying for his line which was 9.99 per month.

Let me know asap bc I bought the phone using his upgrade already but I haven't activated it bc I am afraid I am going to mess up and lose my unlimited data.

Yes, activate the iphone on the dummy line. Next, activate the dummy

phone back on his line using the Web or telephone support.

Finally, you will need a new LTE card to reactivate the phone so take it

to a Verizon store and say you want the phone activated on your line and

need a new LTE Sim card. They will take it from there for free, and you

will keep unlimited data. Or you can call and they will ship you a card.
