Possible to waive an ETF?

I recently switched to Verizon, but my phone barely works at my house. I can stand in one spot near my kitchen and can usually talk for a few minutes before the call drops if I am in that one spot. Service is often disrupted, where one party must ask the other to repeat whatever they said. Since dropped calls and all around terrible service are now a constant thing in my life, I am very tired of paying a large sum of money every month for essentially an iPod, I want to go back to AT&T which works at my house.

Because I have a huge issue with my service, does anyone know if my early termination fee might be waived? Or how much money I might be looking at if I can't get it waived? Should I attempt to call Verizon so they can see how terrible my service is?

We want to see you enjoying our network no matter where you are, rileyhayden. Indoor service can be a bit tricky depending on your home's distance from our tower and other factors. Are you able to use your phone outside of your home? What's your zip code? Does this only effect your voice service or data too? We want to help so you don't consider leaving Verizon Wireless.

This is what the 14 day return period is, for you to determine if the service fits your needs. If you decide to keep the phone after the 14 day period, you would be liable for the ETF if you cancel/port your service before the end of your contract.

ETF on an iPhone starts at $350 and drops $10 for each month of your contract you complete.

No, my phone doesn't work very well outside my house either. Within the first 14 day period we were told it was the phones we purchased, so we upgraded our phones more than what we wanted too. We have problems with calling, texting, and attempting to use data at home is a joke.

No promises, but it can be waived....it was in my situation. I live in a area per the coverage map is blanketed by 4G (Phoenix/Tempe, Arizona) and when I moved to this town initially 2 years ago (and already being with Verizon for 5+ years), the service was not as good when I was in the next town over, but suffice. Over the last 2 years, the overall quality of the service just decreased month after month and eventually I was dropping to 3G often and experiencing very slow speeds and bad call quality. I did everything they threw at me, replacements, factory resets, SIM card replacements, different devices (most flagship devices) and there was no improvement. After 2 years of reporting these issues, Verizon finally admitted my area is considered marginal, and always was (their words). Whether the area is truly marginal, the network is just not as good as advertised, or they just grew tired of hearing from me , they gave me the option to port out and I would not be assessed an ETF. Now, just waiting for the next paycheck to sign up with another carrier. It's a bummer, Verizon has always been good to me and tolerated my frustration, but their network is just not that good out here and luckily they granted me a free break. I was hopeful this XLTE/AWS would solve all my network issues, but after 3 days in, no improvement. Good luck, rileyhayden
