stuck with defective phone

Got a DNA when I signed up for Verizon and have had the SIM error ever since. They keep sending replacements or have me take it to the store, told them enough I want the phone replaced with something that works. They told me the phone isn't carried anymore and my only option is to buy a new phone through the edge program...what a joke!

Have you tried contacting HTC and asking for a new SIM card tray?

Verizon only provides the service not the device. You technically bought the device from HTC and they are honoring HTC's warranty. When you bought the phone you got a discount from Verizon on the device thus requiring you to sign a contract making you ineligible to get the subsidy again for 2 years. Your best bet is to take the option to go on Edge or contact HTC to see what they would be able to do about the defective device. Verizon wireless is under no obligation to make sure you have a working device and demanding that they replace it for you will get you nowhere.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll try my luck with HTC but I think they will be even less helpful. If I have to buy a new phone anyway I'll switch networks and at least take advantage of the promo they'll likely offer me to switch.

If your device is within the one year warranty you may get some decent help from HTC.

There really aren't any promotions being offered from other carriers. Everyone is pushing their programs like Verizon's Edge. Sure, you may find a lower monthly service fee but, other than AT&T, you won't receive anything comparable to VZW. All of them have figured out that nobody really wants contracts any longer and that means these programs are better for their bottom line. You won't receive any discounts on devices because you are paying monthly for them based on the full cost. If you use less than 2GB of data, I've read that many people on the forums have $60 plan.
