How do I use my old iPhone as an iPod?

I have an old iPhone 4s that is all cleared out and I can not get past the welcome screen, even when I plug it into iTunes. I want to give it to my little sister to take with her on a trip to use for wifi and media and am not sure what to do to enable this to happen.

This is real simple. Plug the phone into your computer and use iTunes to reset the device. Once the device is reset just do NOT activate the phone and you have an iPod Touch. Just remember that every time you power the phone completely off it will give you the activation popup and simple hit cancel and you will have your iPOD Touch.

I love the idea of reusing your old device as an iPod! I would recommend contacting Apple, to find out your options for bypassing the activation menu, so you can continue to use this device. Apple can be reached by calling 800-694-7466.

My son has a secondhand 4s he got from a friend when his iPod touch was stolen. His friend just did a factory reset then my son set his iTunes account up on it. It has a better camera, better sound, and it is much faster than the iPod was. It is a really awesome idea!
