Data useage charges

Is anybody else noticing a large amount of over usage in the past 3 months? We have had the same amount for 18 months never went over than in the last 3 months it has sky rocketed. We raised the acct from 16 to 20 and still going over by 3 to 5 G. I have called and called and can not get them to see we have changed nothing....we are two ppl using the jet pack at home, The phone usages have not changed its the jet pack.....I am having it shut down this week...it is 15 dollars a Gig I can get internet for 50 bucks a month through our dish.....

Yes, the iPhone5 my daughter has (not even using the hotspot) has doubled just in May alone. We've been running two phone data plans sharing 8G for months. Now her phone used 8.1 G in just 15 days. Showed high use when she was sleeping! Is there an app or some other OS check running in the background that needs Wifi that we need to turn off? This happened about 2 years ago for a few months as well. If the iphone5 is hooked to a home Wifi, no issues, but as soon as no Wifi it consumes large sums of data, 1G during 5 minutes at odd times of the day and night.

I want my UNLIMITED DATA plan back when we both just had iphone 4S!!!

We have not changed anything in our house at all and I know several other ppl with this same issue and all Verizon keeps telling us is its our usage. my other half is an IT guy we have nothing running on out lap tops at all...our phone usage is the same its the jet pack (home internet) How can two 45 year old ppl who are at work 10 hours a day burn a Gig in 24 hours??? Impossible I believe its a scam from Verizon no way am I paying that much for internet ( $150 for 20G and now had to raise it by another $75 to 30 to avoid paying $15 a gig till out plan rolls over Friday...than I am shutting this line down...which will cost $85 for early term fee I can get internet at home for $50 a month how silly

Try going to Settings>General>About>Diagnostics and Usage>Don't Send. This sends information to Apple about the phone and crash reports and all kinds of other stuff. This takes data. Then go back to Settings>General>Background App Refresh and turn it off by sliding the button to the right of Background App Refresh to the left. The Background App Refresh keeps data up to date. This refreshes things like Facebook News Feed, Instragram and Twitter in the background so that when you go back to them they are up to date. This is useless as they will refresh when you open them anyway. I don't know the refresh rate in the background and this might not make a huge difference but it is sure to help. This is supposed to happen if connected to wifi and shouldn't use mobile data but you never know.

Yep we did all that....they would not listen to us so we switched to Dish internet 20 G a month for 59.99 and no charges for overage. This happened on the 24th of May..so far after almost two weeks we have used 1G All we do is FB nothing else and I have my phone set to my dish WIFI while I am home to avoid using Verizon data.. Four phones and we have used 2.26G total....we were paying 225.00 a month for 30G Look at the savings....Plus the 20 we were paying for the jet pack line....Lowered our Verizon from 30G to 8 G we will probably only use 6 this whole month Verizon home internet sucks and is a joke I hope I can get several more ppl to switch something is jacked up in their data plan
