Having horrible service with 4GLTE I have had 3G for several weeks (I am not the only person I know having this problem), I have reset my network settings and it did not resolve the issue. I am also unable to send SMS and text messages without them either failing or not sending at all. Is there an outage in the Cleveland, Ohio area (zip codes 44129, 44134, 44137) or anything else I can do to resolve this issue?

Oh no, that definitely isn't the experience we want you to have with us, so let's get this service issue resolved. What is the make and model of your device? Is your device's software up to date? Have we swapped out your SIM card since you started experiencing service issues? Please share additional details.

I have an iPhone 5s. The software is up to date. My SIM card has not been swapped out, but as I said, I am not the only person having this same problem. I reset all my phone settings and that resolved the problem about not being able to send text messages however, myself and several people that I know that also have your service unable to get anything but 3G in these areas.

Not that I'm a Verizon employee, but I have experience in the field. An LTE tower will only extend up to, on a perfect day, with no elevation, 6-7 miles. On a typical day, you will be lucky at four (4) miles. The three ZIP codes you've given are all within about a 12 mile radius. That would mean that 2-3 towers are currently down at the same time, and Verizon would know about it within the hour. Being it's Cleveland, I'm sure they would receive numerous calls regarding an outage of that size.

My point is that if you're having issues in all three ZIP codes, chances are it's a phone issue. If you're handset is simply not receiving LTE, but still receiving 3G, that would signify a SIM card issue. You need to get your SIM card replaced.

Thank you LRVassar, but I'm not the only person with Verizon having this problem in the same areas and all of us have different model phones, would that still make it a SIM card issue?

Well, the placebo effect is strong. I'm not saying it's not happening, but after explaining your story to someone, it's very likely that they would agree, although they may not be having the same issue at all. When all is said and done, SIM replacements are free at Verizon Wireless retail locations, and it's the most logical first step in fixing your issue.

From a technical stand-point, it's virtually impossible to happen if one of you is in 44129 and the other is in 44137. LTE will not extend over a 12-mile radius. If that were to happen, I would advise you both to have your SIM cards replaced.

I was sitting next to a coworker that has the same exact phone and provider and I asked her if she was getting 4G and she said no, I didn't explain anything to her until after. We both used to get 4G while we were at work until recently.

I would still suggest replacing the SIM card as first measure.
