Here ya go.....

That just means the phone manufactures will release an update. Verizon can decide to not push them out (like with the first BB Storm) until they feel like it.
Don't get too happy until Verizon pushes the update.
Oh no....I do not need Verizon for the update. As long as the update is available, whether thru HTC or other venues, I can update it. The last update I did was not thru Verizon. I just downloaded the update and applied it myself.
I realize this option is not for everyone, but for me, just knowing the update is around the corner is good news.
Unfortunately Motorola isn't releasing the 2.1 update on their own, they are leaving it to Verizon (to hold off on releasing). I could run a hacked 2.1, but i'd rather have the real deal. If Verizon keeps up with this crap they will be losing my three lines and possibly my company account.
Yeppers......this is the reason I manually did my update as I waited for over two weeks for the OTA from Verizon. I just said the heck with it and DL'd it and did it myself.
I hate being treated like a "Mushroom". If the update is released from the manufacture...whether it is HTC, Motorola or another company, they usually have ALREADY tested it. It is the carrier that usually wants to dumb it down before being released that makes me mad.
When the Razor first came out, it was dumbed down so the video was disabled for everyone except one carrier. This was just stupld and the first thing I did was unlock the phone and then reflashed it so I could use the video.
The carriers act like it is "Their" phone, when it is actually just their service. The phones belong to the customer and should not be disabled for simple things like software updates and such.
