phone getting hot espcially around sim card area

my I Phone 4S is not a yr old yet I am not sure but I purchased this at the Apple store I think in May 2014 and a few days ago it started getting warm around the sim card area then the lower part of the phone on the back right near were the charger goes in its starting to get warm I can still touch it its not warm to burn you but it gets warm every so often and the battery drains out all the time I use it does Apple offer an extended battery like they do on Android phones were you can take out the original battery and replace it with an extended battery that lasts longer than the original battery but the getting warm issue is that normal please let me know what my next step is thanks

I took my I Phone 4 S to the Apple store on Saturday July 26 2014 and they did a whole test on the phone and they told me its not going to sleep automaticly the I phones according to the Apple tech are supposed to go to auto sleep every so often but my I phone 4 S is not doing that they didnt fix the auto sleep issue should I bring it ibn to a VZW store so they can fix the auto sleep issue on my I Phone 4 S ?
