XLTE?

Who is excited about the new XLTE service?  Here are my thoughts.... Faster speeds are always better, except when the service is limited.  It's like buying a Ferrari and told you can drive it as fast as you want for one block, after that you will have to pay the dealership an additional fee for extra blocks.  To me this just don't make sense.  I personally would prefer unlimited 3G speeds over the XLTE service anyway.   To be honest if you live in a metropolitan area you probably can connect to an open wifi that would be faster then XLTE anyway.  I understand what is going on here they are offering this new service that will work with certain new devices only.  So this new product is flashed in front of everyone and people being people has to have the newest thing out there, so they will opt out of their unlimited data service just so they can upgrade to a new phone that supports the new service.

I was...then after 4 days in I realized it is ineffective.

I have one of the eligible devices (M8) and live in the one of the cities they rolled out XLTE in (Phoenix) and have not noticed any difference at all. I maybe get 8mbps download on a good day (before the supposed XLTE introduction), but mostly under 5. Since Monday, its been about the same and still experience those 'crawl speeds' and drops to 3G very often. Kind of disappointing when you see an S4 from another carrier hitting 40 up and 20 down right next to you. Maybe 3 or 4 times the bandwidth next time, Verizon? 

Oh wait, let me take a sec to reassure a Verizon rep if they happen to chime in.... zip code 85282, yes I have taken my SIM out, restarted my phone, performed a factory reset, opened a resolution ticket, had the phone replaced, switched roaming on and switched the network to LTE from Global, had my connection refreshed by your tech support, aware indoor coverage is not guaranteed, compared to other Verizon devices (same speeds), cleared cache, ran in safe mode, uninstalled third party apps, have WiFi turned off, confirmed I have the latest software, no physical or water damage, phone does not get warm...I am sure I am forgetting something

Luckily, there is an app to force HTC devices to 3G and as mentioned, we are better off on 3G. LTE and XLTE may work great in other areas (OH seems to be one of those places) but here, Verizon is near the bottom of the list. I am just frustrated because for 2 years I worked with Verizon regarding my sub-par service and for 2 years, I was told it was device issues and was promised this would be resolved, and after many replacements and purchasing new devices and no difference, Verizon FINALLY admitted my area is considered marginal...wish they would have admitted that 2 years ago before dropping who knows how much money on service and equipment. Maybe it was out of guilt, but Verizon offered to waive my ETF when I port out but sincerely hope this XLTE does not convince existing and new customers to update their device...I do not see this being effective at all. Wherever you are, whether your Verizon network is outstanding, average or bad...expect the same :smileyhappy:

Forgive my bitterness, just upset that they truth was withheld from me in order to keep me as a customer.
