Can we switch upgrades?

My mother passed away recently. I'm on a family plan with her and my dad. My dad and she are done with their contracts and eligible for an upgrade. I have 4 months to go. Verizon is currently doing a buy one get one sale on several phones. My dad needs a new phone and I have been having issues with mine. Originally I was going to just use my mom's upgrade for my line but that would mean starting a new 2 year contract on her line which we do not need. I was also told I could use her upgrade and number and then terminate my line 4 months from now but I want to keep my phone number. Is there any way that I can move her upgrade to my line, terminate her line, and keep my phone number? If you need this info, her number is the primary and I am an authorized account manager on our plan.

Yes, you can move her upgrade to your line, but as you said that starts a new 2 year contract on her line which would initiate an ETF if you then terminate her line after the upgrade.

The contract follows the line which originally had the upgrade. The actual phone you purchase with the upgrade can be used on any line. If you use the upgrade for her line, you sign a new 2 year contract for that line regardless which line the phone is using the new phone.
