Is it possible to have two phones on one line? I have a terrible habit of leaving my phone at work when I need it at home and vice versa. I have an older phone that I can root, if necessary.

No, you can't have two phones on one line. You can switch between two phones on one line, though (how often and how easily depends on which phones you have).
