Eris signal is terrible!

I have the Motorola Droid, while my wife has the Eris. The signal strength on the Eris is horrendous. Sitting in our house, my Droid always has at least 4 bars, while her Eris has 0-1, max.

I've done the roaming update (*228, option 2) a number of times, and I have heard the signal strength indicator on the Eris registers low, but she's dropping calls all the time which tells me it's not just the signal strength icon on the phone, but more a real issue with the phone's ability to get and hold a connection.

Anyone else have this problem? Unfortunately she's past her 30 days (long story), but I may have to switch her back to an old Blackberry, at least until this gets fixed, if it can get fixed.

I have seen people complaining of this issue here in the android forum. if you'll do a search you'll probably find the thread.

I have to agree with the OP. My Tour was at full bars in my house, but the Eris averages 2-3, mostly 2. At work, I'm lucking to get 1 bar.

I did do a search of the forums, but found no real good information related to this, other than other people having the same problem. Oddly, it doesn't seem to be much of a big deal to most Eris owners. Either that, or they don't know any different?
