International Student w/o SSN...yet

I'll be coming to the US as an int'l student in a few weeks. I was hoping to get a contract through Verizon - however, I won't be able to get a SSN until Sept 1 at the earliest, while I'll be in the country for two weeks before that. Is there a way to start a new contract without a SSN?  (I also need to purchase a new phone.)

I would recommend a pre-paid account - since you will be in the country temporarily, a pre-paid, or pay as you go, will be the least expensive option.  No deposit, no credit check, and you can adjust the plan to meet your needs, and leave when you need to without being tied to a contract.
