Hello again! Actually, the way it works is once you call to change your plan it's done right away and the changes take effect instantaneously or you can set the change in plan to take place at a future date of your chosing like at the end of your billing cycle. You can change plans as often as you like at no charge and I've actually done it several times in one day and verizon never even blinked an eye at it.
I've never done it via the menu on my phone but I suspect you could easily go into My Verizon on your phone and do so. I have either called verizon to change the plan or I've done it right from the web site. Simply log into My Verizon . . . My Services tab . . . and then select My Plan from the menu on the left . . . right in the middle of the page is a link to change your plan
Hello and welcome! You can change your plan as often as you like. You can even change it multiple times in one day and I just recently did that myself (don't ask ).
OK . . . OK! Sheeeesh! Well for the longest time I had the $99 unlimited nationwide plan. Life was rolling along just fine. Then I needed to expand my phones to three lines about a week ago. I had always had two lines but needed a third. Sooooo . . . . LOL . . Knowing what I know, I knew that the timing is everything in switching plans. So I intentionally waited until the very last day of my billing cycle to call and set up a three line nationwide plan. I specifically asked them to set it up for midnight the next day which would correspond with day one of the next billing cycle.
Much to my horror as soon as I hung up I checked My Verizon online and they had started the program right away! This created a 2200+ sudden overage on my existing billing cycle because my unlimited plan had tons of minues on it! That unlimited plan was covering all those minutes but prematurely starting me into the family share plan before I could even set up my Family 10 caused that enormous overage! I frantically called back right away and told them that THEY had created the "overage" on my bill and not me by failing to start the new plan as they had agreed at midnight and not that evening.
So they then blanketed me with a 3000 nationwide plan (backdated) to cover the 2200+ minute overage from their first blunder which they admitted. So I really was only to have the 3000 nationwide plan for just a few more hours until the stroke of midnight when my originally requested 1400 nationwide family share plan was to kick in.
Well guess what sports fans? When I woke up the next day I checked again and the nationwide 1400 minute plan that they promised would kick in . . . didn't! LOL. Sooooo . . . I call these bozos again and read them the DarkCobra riot act! LOL! I convinced them in no uncertain terms that I knew every blunder they made and was documenting every stitch of it for future reading by their CEO. I also had every single persons full name and calling center whom I had dealt with and could well identify them all.
I was lucky to get Judith from the New Mexico call center who was really polite and savvy and she literally repaired all the damage that had been done by all the other reps and so all is well now. I must tell you that one of the prior reps was astounded that I knew of upcoming phones that were coming out on the network. She had no idea how I knew and I gave her my sources. I told her she could also review the verizon forum for information. She had ZERO idea it even existed until I showed her where it was and how to get in. Unreal huh? So that was my saga in going from my original plan to this one. All I can say is "Ya gotta have a sense of humor and know what your doing" . . . . a strong drink nearby doesn't hurt either
