Verizon prepaid data speed, slow?

I have a ZTE Majesty android phone that is Straight Talk branded (bought at Walmart).  It is CDMA, and I assume it's running off Verizon towers since during the activation I heard that familiar VZW voice LOL.

The data speed on it was horrible.  My wife has a iPhone 5C through the GSM side of Straight Talk...she gets 6 Mbps download, and I barely got 1 Mbps download.

So, my questions are as follows:

1.  Can I bring (port my number) this ST branded CDMA phone to Verizon, and if so:

2.  Will the data speeds be slower compared to regular contract VZW customers?

The straight talk CDMA phone may work with verizon I just cannot say for certain. Call 1-800-922-0204 to be absolutely certain.

Your speed with straight talk using verizon towers is at 3g speed only. And although you may have unlimited features the best you can hope for is that speed. You may be using the verizon network but verizon customers will take priority over straight talk users.

But it is a 3 G device.

If you can port over and the device is 4G LTE then you will get the faster speeds. But it is not. See link.
