Can I use a droid razor maxx XT 912 3G/4G capable phonewith a prepaid account?

I have an existing prepaid account and just bought a droid razor maxx XT 912 3G/4G capable phone....can i use this phone and keep my existing number with a prepaid account? Please tell me how to activate it if so,...please. All it will do when i try is say  that it didnt activate ,and ask if i wanna      .retry. I cant even access any part of the phone     .I cant get past the first screen   im so desperate please help... thank you                                                                                                                                                     I
