Verizon single line plans

So, switched the 1 remaining Verizon phone to a single line plan. Unlimited text/talk + 1GB of data for $60 bucks. Well, that sounds fair doesn't it? Except they took wireless hotspot away and want $30 a month for it. We're back up to $100 for a single line with $60 + $10 (ins) + $30 hotspot.

Verizon - it's our 1GB of data and our phone. We should be allowed to use it how we see fit. It's not fair to charge $30 a month to change a bit value from a 0 to a 1 and allow the hotspot to turn on!

So, to make this in question. Verizon, are you crazy? Verizon's going to get your money, the same amount of money they've always gotten, regardless of whatever "New Deals" they make.

be too easy to rack up tethering overages), and maybe offer the $60 2 gig plan, no hotspot, so you have a choice at

$60, hotspot or more data.

But clearly Verizon doesn't know how to fairly price tiered data. Pricing is all over the map, $10/1 Gig here, $60/1 Gig

there. If they can't price consistently and fairly they should go back to $30/unlimited.

charge for hotspot on unlimited plans or set a capped allowance like T-Mobile does.

Tethering/hotspot charges in this country are one big itchy annoying zit on wireless pricing that just won't heal up and go

away.

dimap52 is right. Verizon now has 2 single line plans for people who don't want a share everything plan. The problem is they have no hotspot for free and want you to pay $30 for it. $60 plan with a $30 dollar add on. Does that make sense?

The problem with share everything plan to me is the $40 a month charge per line and then a data fee on top of it.

On another note, Verizon tried to seem competetive by cutting that $40 a month charge down to $20 if you buy over 10GB of data, but as always with Verizon there is a catch. The fee is only cut down to $20 for lines that are on the Edge program. The issue is that there are many people who are still under contract and not on the Edge program. I had 3 lines, 2 of which were under contract. Now I have moved 2 lines to another carrier.

Back to the original complaint, and goes with what I just said. Verizon just moves around puzzle pieces to appear to be giving deals to customers. In reality, they never discount anything. It's always in the fine print with Verizon.

Regardless of how it is worded, Verizon wants you to pay ~$110 for first line, ~70 for second line, ~50 for third line.

There have been too many buyouts in the wireless industry and the competition is getting slim.

besides the fact that unlimited data is not sustainable and a topic for another day. You are confusing your pricing. On the old nationwide plan when you got a data package that s what you paid for 100% data. The $30 2 GB plan was for 2 GB data and that's it. One the share everything "2 GB" plan for $50 you are getting 2 GB data, unlimited texting and unlimited minutes. Just 450 minutes is $30 and unlimited texting on a single line is $20 on the old plans and adding in the $30 for 2 GB, that would be a total of $80. Now it's $50.

You do realize with the tethering fee you also get 2 GB extra data. So extra data should be free? So if you have a 2 GB plan you pay the $20 for hotspot you now have 4 GB. I supposed you could argue that Verizon could offer tethering without the extra data but the point is the $20 is really for the data.

As far as Verizon capping tethering, you can thank the FCC for why Verizon isn't allowed to do that.

And here is what the details say - nowhere does it say 2GB of extra data. I am not talking about a "share everying" plan. I am clearly talking about a "single line" plan and the requirement of $30 to add the hotspot ability:

I never said anything about Share Everything plans since hotspot is INCLUDED. On unlimited data the hotspot is $30 which is also unlimited. On old nationwide plans with tiered data the hotspot feature is $20 but you get 2 GB extra added to your data plan. So 2 GB is 4 GB, 5 GB is 7 GB and 10 GB is 12 GB.

To me it seems like the $50 fee for data is just for data, to be shared within the family.

For a single line, you still have to pay $40 for the smart phone line access, which gives you unlimited talk and text.

So essentially you're paying $90 for a single line with 2gb data. That is just plain dumb

From the Information i have all three plans the 250mb/$45 1gb/$60, and 2GB/$60 are not suspose to support tethering through vzw in any way so the extra amount being requested is probably to put you back on a shareeverything plan. depending on the phones you may beable to download apps to allow you to tether without the extra charges

dimap52 This seems way too reasonable. People would like it, sign up for it, and maybe even use more data — and then pay Verizon for that data. Also, people might understand what they're paying for. Win-win-win, which is bad. Defies the logic of constructing an effectively confusing wireless plan.

As an alternative, I suggest two plans: One that's $60/mo., 250MB, unlimited hotspot, and includes a turkey sandwich that expires in 90 days. The second plan would be $45/mo., but it's just the turkey sandwich and a hotspot dongle. No minutes, no data.

UNLIMITED hotspot? So people can it it for a regular internet connection and use hundreds of GB per month? How is that a "win" for Verizon?
