I'm a current Verizon customer for the last two years--my contract expired on the first of February. I was an AT&T customer for two years before that. I left AT&T because they stopped being cheaper than Verizon, and because their network sucked in my area.
That said, I'm really tempted to go back to AT&T. They've recently deployed LTE in my area, as shown by their coverage map and by a device in my own hand, so they're improving the network. I currently pay $150 plus fees (So let's call it $185 a month) for one smartphone with 4 GB of data ($30 plan with "double your data") and three dumbphones. For a $160 base price, AT&T would give me FOUR smartphones with a shared 10GB of data, letting me put the whole rest of my family on smartphones and enabling cloud services for all of us, something I REALLY want to do.
But Verizon's response so far to AT&T's value plans appears to be "More Everything". Where not only do you not get the same level of discounts as you do with AT&T, but you ONLY get the discounts they do offer if you sign up to pay an extra $20 per smartphone per month with Verizon Edge, which is no deal for me. When is Verizon going to offer something that actually matches the other guy?
