i just have the stock charger that came with the s4, it takes hours to charge, my daughter has a s5 fast charger but the plug is different

Samsung sells a spare battery (2600 MH) and a small portable wall charger about the size of a deck of cards for about 40 bucks. Swapping out a battery is a lot faster than any charger. That's what I would do if I needed recharging in the middle of the day.
The OEM S4 charger is a 2-amp charger. The S5 charging port is different because it's a USB 3.0 rather than USB 2.0 like on the S4. If your phone is taking a long time to charge, it may be that the charging cable has gone bad, or it could be that the battery needs replacing.
