I received the following text message:
(not sure if I should post the number it was sent from but I will provide it if requested)
Dear Verizon Customer, your account has been locked. Please verify your account here: unlock.e-mid.co/vw/?id=6401xxxxxxxxxx (xxxxxxxxxx represents my mobile number including area code. I called Verizon and was told my account was not locked out and to disregard the message. I was surprised there was no more interest in the issue. I did not click the link but I did forward the text to an email address and click on it there. It takes you to a page that looks like an official Verizon page with a logon box.
This could be a major security concern.
Is there a place to report SMS phishing scams?
It would be nice to let others know about this, I am sure many users would have clicked the link immediately.
