What do retail employees get out of a new contract?

Customer service in the local retail store is terrible. All they want to do is push a contract or get someone on Edge. I like to buy my phones outright and they don't like it. They try to make you feel stupid. I do NOT like dealing with the sales people in the retail store. Even worse for me though, is that the manager is a guy I went to high school with years ago.

Anyways, what's in it for them?

Commission, more money.

How much is anyone's guess but by how hard they pitch it it seems like a decent amount.

If you don't like "dealing with the sales people in the retail store", why are you going in there?

There are 1) other stores both physical and online [e.g. Best Buy, Amazon, etc.] and 2) other methods to purchase phones [e.g. Verizon website, via telephone support, etc.].

I figured as much, but didn't know why they have to be even more of a (removed) if you don't do what they want.
