last night i was trying to take a snapchat with my front facing camera and half the screen was black, i just thought maybe it was the app so i restarted my phone, but sure enough it was still there. so i looked at the camera and it looks like a small plastic ring is covering half of it.

i went to the Verizon store and asked and the guy said he didn't know, it should be covered because it looks like a manufacturing defect, he said the phone looked to be in perfect condition, then he went and talked to the manager im assuming, he left with the phone then came back and told me that the phone has water damage, and he pointed to a small copper colored circle in the back of the phone and said that wasn't suppose to be that color, i just said ok, i never dropped it in water. so he gave me a card for the phone insurance he said i have. well after i got home i asked my roommate if i could see his galaxy s5 and it had the same bronze colored circle so then i looked up to see what tells you if its water damaged and it was the little pad with x's on it and its clearly not been dropped in water.

is this a common problem with the phone? i don't exactly want to spend 99 dollars to get a refurbished if its a manufacturing defect.
