why do i keep getting vpn msg. to enter my authentication and why have i not seen this before ?

personally in your iPhone settings you can just turn off VPN
i just use my wireless routers to connect and don't use a Virtual Private Network unless it's required for some security reason.
settings-general-vpn
turn the doggle off.
