HTC Eris Text message - saving or locking

Love my Droid but am missing the option to save a text message. Maybe I just haven't figured it out yet :-) My old phone had a "lock" option so if I deleted messages, the locked ones would automatically be saved. Is there away to do this on the Eris? If "lock" not available, can you save it somehow to the memory card?

I don't have my android phone with me right now,but if you don't see an option for it, check the android market and do a search. There may be an app you can download. Use keywords in the search like lock text or lock text messages

Thank you for your help. I couldn't find a free one so ended up paying for app "TxtArchive" and it seems to be working very well.
