is there anyway to recover them?
It's fairly frustrating that every other data i had stored on the phone is still available, yet my contacts are gone.
Call logs, text messages, etc. list the number but not the name
To get your contacts back, try this
1) on the home screen press the menu button and choose settings
2) in the settings menu touch accounts and sync
3) select your gmail account
4) choose sync now (if that choice is not available, press the menu button again and it should be available)
It may take a few minutes to sync, but it will get your contacts back as long as you never turned the sync off when you got the phone. Good luck!
That's odd. They should sync back when you sign into your gmail account on the phone. Unless you were only saving them to your phone, at which point, I would still think that the OTA update would have saved them. I haven't really looked around the forum for a similar issue; if I find one, I'll post a link for you.
same thing happened to me...kept everything but my phone contacts...they're all wiped out...tried some fixes online but nothing has worked yet
Same thing happend to me. FOr some reason they all just came back on after i fixed my clock widget. Try fixing the the clock widget and maybe it will work for u too.
After the update, I synced my phone with the HTC program on my PC and restored my contacts.

I have back up assistant and gmail but had not turned gmail on. the gmail didn't update the numbers, can the backup assistant help? Please advise. Some of these numbers are very important and impossible to replace. Thanks

Hi CairnSue. I don't memorize any of my contacts, so I know how important having the Backup Assistant and Gmail restore the contacts can be. You definitely want to start by turning the Gmail on. Backup Assistant will only back up or restore numbers saved on your phone as "phone" contacts. Gmail will backup and restore contacts saved as "Google" contacts.
