Your first bill will be generated in the next few days. In the meantime, you should register your line for your MyVerizon account online.
So I wouldn't wait a month? I'd have to pay it in a couple days?

The bill is generated in a few days, but it might not be due for a month. You will find out the due date when you get the first bill. Be prepared for the first bill to be higher than the expected monthly charges. The first bill will have the activation fee, the partial month of charges from the day you started service to the billing cycle date and a full month of charges from the billing cycle date to the next month billing cycle.

My bill is usually available on the 30th of each month with a due date of the 21st of the next month. So about 3 weeks.
