seperating from my current contract to be on my own

I have been at the local Verizon location twice trying to get off of my family contract with Verizon, so I can be. on my own contract by myself, but Both times they tried helping me nothing happened afterwards. The number that the person gave me the second time I was in the store (a help number), the line said it had a 10 min wait time. I don't understand how this can be so difficult! I was hoping to get a response to help me with this.

Ok first you would have to have the actual account owner there with you since you line actually belongs to them. OS that's your first problem. Second they will do a credit check on you. So depending on your credit history you may have to pay a security deposit of $125 or $400 or nothing if your credit is good.

As for needing the account manager with me. My dad is the owner and has made me an account manager. The Verizon employees that helped me both times said that wasn't an issue. As for the credit check, the second time the Verizon employee ran it and it came back fine. no issues.

I'm not sure they are right on the account manager part. That only has to do with access to the MY Verizon website as far as I know. If your dad doesn't pay the bill are YOU going to get a notice to pay it? I doubt it. So I'm pretty sure that the one who is actually responsible for the bill needs to be there.

Assumption of Liability (AOL) is what you want. An AOL is the process of transferring an account's financial liability from an one Account Owner to another individual.

The account must be current when Account Owner (AO) or Account Manager (AM) wishes to authorize AOL. Existing customer balances must be current/in good standing. If a security deposit is required on the line that will be assumed, the balance must be paid before taking payment for the security deposit. If this does not occur, any payment intended for security deposit would first apply to the current balance. There is no activation fee. The minimum age to assume liability is 18. An existing AO or AM can authorize the AOL. The ETF for your line moves with you and cannot be waived within first 30 days of having new account, but you get to keep your upgrade date (no early upgrades, though). You won't be able to complete an AOL if you are on an Edge contract until you pay off the device.
