Eris Up date / Contact will not sync

Down loaded new up date 24 hrs. ago and still waiting for my Google contacts to sync. Seems that the sync is frozen, when I go into the sync part it starts runs for about 10sec and then resets it self automatically and never finishes the process.

Any ideas.

I'm having the same problem. But my phone continues to try to sync even after the error message. This causes the phone to get hot and drains the power at a rapid rate. I finally turn off sync on the settings page to conserve power.

i was having the same problem as well. i just tried the sync though and it worked for me??

"settings"-> "accounts&sync"-> make sure all boxes are checked and hit "sync now"

after this all my contacts seemed to reappear

After the Eris update, my contact only syncs email information, not phone numbers. I've tried several fixes, the one mentioned above, also deleting all my contacts in gmail, syncing, importing my contacts back into gmail, resyncing. no luck. Im very frustrated.

Same problem had to do the same things, but still no sync of contacts or gmail.

Same issue and I also can no longer access the weather app. The icon is there but when i try to open it flashes an error so quickly i cant even read what is said. I got some of my contacts back but not everything. I also have trouble making and receiving calls. The call will come in and I cant answer, or I will dial and the call shows active but the screen just flashes and phone vibrates, caller cant hear me and i can hear them.

A software update is currently in progress for the HTC Droid Eris. If you have received and installed the update on your phone, please be advised that some users may experience delays in restoration of personal data, such as contacts, while the data is being re-synced. If for some reason the sync stalls or does not start, the customer can force a sync by power cycling the device or via synch now..(insert the URL to the synch now directions from our support page)

i thought i was loosing my mind...can someone give a little more detail as to what/where exactly the above quick fix is...i haven't been too successful finding things on the verizon site...by the way...where did they move the contacts to so that i can update them...when i click on the contacts to update, i get the 'why i should set up backup'....

I've tried all the fixes listed above and my facebook pictures will not sync with my contacts. I've tried powering off/on the phone, clicking the syns link in the contact, tried syncing the contact directly, and going to settings and clicking sync, even logging in and out of facebook and sncing again. Says "no matches found".

I installed the update on Monday and still nothing. How long does this take and when is Verizon going to fix it? It was working fine before the updgrade.

To get my contacts back, i had to export contacts from gmail, mail it to my phone, import, synch back to gmail and then remove duplicates in gmail...
