Phone not iMessaging all of a sudden

I've had my 5c since June and I've been sending iMessages until about two weeks ago. I've tried twice on two different occasions to recipients at different locations that I know have wifi on and my phone is using wifi but it only wants to go SMS. In fact, originally the "Send SMS" was off, but since messages weren't going I've turned it on and my messages only go SMS.

Thanks for the information Relleporp. For iMessage to work you would simply need to have a data connection and have the iMessage setting set to ON within the device. Just to be sure, do you have an active data connection? Are you able to access the web otherwise? For now, we would know that our services are working if you are able to send and receive standard SMS messages. As well the security of your account is of the utmost importance to us. Regarding your community profile can you please provide some additional information concerning your profile? Are you referring to the Community Forums profile only or your My Verizon account?

Hi Relleporp!

I'd like to help you get to the bottom of this. Do you happen to know if the people you are messaging have iPhones? Messages will always go through as SMS if you are messaging a non-iPhone, or if the iPhone you are messaging has iMessage disabled.

Yes, both recipients have iPhones, both have iMessaging on and both have wifi. I fact my daughter and I sent test messages. She was sending as iMessage but it converted to SMS but I rec'd it as iMessage. I then was able to send back as iMessage. There seems to be no rhyme or reason. We have not had time to pursue further. My biggest concern is getting my profile closed in the community forum. I believe my personal profile was open to everyone. I'm not happy about that.
