i want to use my phone to navagate our route when we travel will it use up my data plan?
Yes it will. Those maps get to your phone via cellular data. The only way around this would be to find an app which downloads all maps PRIOR to starting your trip, on a wifi signal. There are apps which provide this capability, but I can't recall which apps they are. I think there may be a way to do so on Google Maps, but I am unsure.
Keep in mind if you do download the route prior to starting your trip and make any deviations from your route, the mapping software will most likely have to download new maps for your new route with deviations from your original route. This will incur data usage.
