What's up with the Verizon coverage maps?

According to the map, I should have full 4g lte coverage, but I have no data service anywhere on my property or in the immediate neighborhood. If I stand in one corner of my property, I can occasionally get one bar of voice/text, enough to get a text message through if I resend it several times. Certainly not enough to make and recieve calls. And 4g haha forget about it. The coverage map in my area seems completely fraudulant.

Go to sensorly dot com and check out the maps for various carriers; based on actual readings taken by consumers. You can also download the sensorly app and check the signal strength for the major carriers at your location; you may want to switch.

That doesn't mean a thing. That depends on people using that app and also being in his particular area to have the data record. How many people would do that? Maybe in a big city heavily populated area that app is useful for most people it's not.

Totally agree that it is all dependent on user input (think I mentioned that). Just because it is not showing coverage could be misleading. However, if it shows strong coverage, that is from an actual user. If he isn't getting the same coverage, he needs to go from there.

OTOH, who in their right mind would depend on the maps VZW (or any carrier) provides? They are all just projections and estimates based on what "should be" under the best conditions.

And as I suggested, he can download the app and see for himself what carrier provides the strongest signal in his area. Otherwise, I don't have another suggestion for the OP; do you?

The coverage maps are all theoretical and based on your location and the location of towers near you. If you get 1 bar of bad LTE that is still considered "coverage" for the sake of the map.

Apparently a lot of people that post here and complain about the coverage maps. Reading disclaimers must not a strong suit of theirs.

Thanks guys. I took a look at this, but although I am only about 25 minutes

from SF, my town is small and there is no data for any of the carriers.
