Collect Calls (not from prison)

Does anyone know if Verizon wireless allows collect calls to your cell phone? I am not talking about prison calls but an actual general collect call? As if someone picks up a pay phone and tries to call me collect.

I know a long time ago you couldn't call cell phones collect but am not sure anymore.

It is long distance.

if you are considering calling a wireless number collect it is cheaper to just call them and let it ring once and then hang up and have the person on the cell phone call you back

never use 1-800-COLLECT. it is not the same company as it was 10 years or so ago. the current fees for 1-800-collect are:

$10.63 for the connection fee and $3.99 a minute. a six minute collect call will cost you $42.55

i believe this is higher then what prisons charge.

if you go to their website, the fine print will confirm this.

here is an example. i am in California on a landline phone and i want to call Connecticut. the cost of the call will be $9.99 for the connection charge. plus $3.99 a minute. and the minimum length of that call will be 5 minutes. so a five minute call would be $29.94
