Cancel service

Hello- Id like to look into cancelling my service with Verizon. My son recently dropped my iPhone 5c in the ocean and when I called to look into getting a new phone I was told I would pay full price to replace it because I was not available to upgrade. $300 for a flip phone... I have a iPhone 5 for work with ATT, and I am available to upgrade, so I thought maybe I could use the iPhone 5 for the Verizon account and get a new phone with ATT MUCH cheaper, but I have learned that I can only get a Verizon phone with Verizon. I have gone through a similar situation with my daughter needing to replace her iPhone with ATT before eligibility to upgrade with ATT and they totally helped her. Frankly this just sucks, and I would rather pay the early termination fee then stick around with Verizon. SO..... is there a way to cancel online?

No, you can't cancel service on-line ... you have to either call Customer Service or visit your local Corporate Verizon store.

You also may want to look at swappa or ebay for a gently used phone to use until the line is available for a subsidized upgrade (just ensure it's Verizon branded with a clean ESN/MEID).

I can't even seem to cancel service through the supposed correct methods. I have been to the store and asked that one line be dropped from my account as well as asked that it be dropped via telephone. The line is still active and I am still being charged. I am getting pissed off and have no recourse. I work nights and am usually up when there service lines are not open and they don't support email queries.

I doubt if you went to a store and said you wanted to cancel a line that it would not be cancelled. Why? because I for sure wouldn't leave the store until the line was cancelled with proof.

Well the young man that helped me told me he took care of it. I didn't ask for any written proof because I am a trusting sort of person. I do not appreciate you accusing me of lying.

I didn't say you were lying. I said I wouldn't leave the store without proof. If you left the store without proof that's on you. Also it seems you would have least checked your account online when you got home just to be sure. Like I've said I like Verizon but I sure as heck aint going to take their word on something blindly. And that goes for any company.

This has happened to me on numerous occasions and now I just want to cancel my contract.

Wow, OP. Good luck cancelling. I remember when I cancelled a line a few years ago, it was $400 to do so. Make sure you save up an arm before you go to the store to cancel.
