Confused on how to remove the folders and widgets on my main screen

Well my son was messing with my phone and all of these widgets popped up on my main screen and I do not know how to remove them. Can anyone please help? Also, my google toolbar is right in the center of the screen when it used to be at the top and I would like to place it back up top if thats possible?

Press the icon to be removed and hold it down...it will highlight,  then drag it to remove area (where the phone icon is normally seen on the screen). The icon will be removed.
