1x what does it mean?

Why is my phone showing 1x where the 3g-4g is suppose to be? 47227 area code ? We just got these s-4 phones and service. But not getting very good service here at home. Was told I would have when signing up... *228 not helping...

It means you are on a fringe of service.

If the devices you have use Sim cards you messed up the devices using *228 SND

Go into Verizon wireless corporate store and get new Sim cards.

They are free.

Additionally cellular service is not guaranteed since many factors affect reception to the device.
