VPN on Android 4.4.2+

Ever since the 4.4.2 update on my Droid MAXX (updated soon after purchase), my VPN is useless. I specifically asked the salesperson if the option was present and was told yes. When started in WiFi mode, there is no issue. But on 4g it constantly disconnects. Reports are all over this and other forums of the same issue and no resolution is offered. What is the status of a fix?

There's no fix for this at this time.  It is an Android 4.4.x bug; here's the bug page:

The reason there's no fix is because Verizon could care less about keeping their customers' devices up to date, and Google could care less about fixing this bug.  Since Verizon is happy to leave customers on ancient android releases while handing out excuses endlessly, we're all a captive audience with a buggy OS.  I personally have the same issue on my Droid Turbo which has had Android 5.0 "coming soon" for nine months but is on 4.4.4 now.  Once the volume of complaints got high enough, and 5.0 started getting a little old itself, they've begun claiming they're going straight to 5.1 and that's now "real soon."  While I sit here unable to connect to my office from their flagship phone on the cell network.
