This is insane! why would they do such a thing!?! and when are they going to fix it? from what i've read, everyone is outraged by this!
We don't want to see our customers unhappy, BrigadierUser. By your screen name I'm assuming you have a Kyocera Brigadier 4G LTE, is that correct? What trouble are you having with your SD card? Please fill us in on more details. JenniferH_VZW Follow us on Twitter www.twitter.com/vzwsupport
I don't think they've completely disabled access to the SD card. Have you tried using your built-in File Explorer program (not sure what it is called)? That should allow you to manipulate files.
They have NOT completely disabled access to the SD Card, and it is not a bug, it is by design for what Google says are security issues.
By design an app can only write to the SD Card in a folder the App itself creates. So as a user your stuff will still be written to the SD card, but you will not be able to move a document from one folder to another, or from internal storage to the SD card unless you do it via a computer.
Unfortunately this is something that Google will not do anything about as it is working to their design and Google requirements.
5.0 Google changed it again. Devs need to code their apps for it with the new API. Yes as of 4.0-4.4.4 Google did remove the access. Carriers had nothing to do with it. Manufacturers didn't either, but they could have made their own but chose not to.

That is very cool. I was not aware of that. At least I have 1 phone that can get it when it is updated to Lollipop. Unfortunately the phone I use regularly and like more will not be getting the new update. It is great news though for everyone that can update.
The only way to do it going forward for older devices that will not get 5.0 requires a voided warranty and a dev who is willing to do it. :smileysad:
I want apps on my phone to be able to read/write to the external sd card without limits. EX: I have a 3rd party file manager that isn't allowed to move/rename/delete files due to the 4.4.2 Kit Kat file acaccess limitation. When is this going to be changed? I really like the Brigadier and don't want to have to change phones because of this. Thank you
