Will the Moto X 2nd Gen be getting a developer edition? I have a Dev Edition first gen now, and I'd rather not lose the control that gives me.
Verizon won't be getting a developer edition for Moto X in 2014 | Android Central
I think I read there won't be a Verizon Wireless version.
It would be very disappointing if that was true. Verizon sure is all over the place with things like this. Last year we had a developer edition, and this year we don't, but we have the Nexus. Verizon needs to let us have the control we want over the devices we pay so much money for.
I might just switch carriers over that. I'm tired of having choices like that removed from me, when they existed on past devices. That plus the bugs in Advanced Calling 1.0 (here: Verizon iPhone 6 Signal Problem | Apple Support Communities) are driving me nuts. My phones constantly choose to drop down to 3G despite a very stable LTE signal being around.
As a temp fix why not remove your Advanced Calling 1.0 feature and wait a bit. (not available in all network area and yes still some bugs).
GalaxyClass,
Not only have I disabled it on my phone, I've also removed the feature from account, and had a local VZW store remove 5 other features relating to it (that only they can see) as well. I think the issue has to do with the way Verizon rolled the feature out. It's screwing with signal prioritization on any line that it detects a VoLTE capable device on. AT&T has a similar but less noticeable issue. I've tested T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon SIMs on the device, and had the phone swapped twice. I've had direct e-mail correspondence with Apple Engineers. It's most likely a PRL issue but without Verizon willing to share their technical secrets with me, I can only speculate based on my own experiences, knowledge, and what they reveal over the phone to me when I dial 611.
Honestly I could care less about VoLTE and bugs that are Apple's fault are why I was hoping for a Moto X 2nd Gen Dev Edition. Since that isn't happening I guess I'll close the question and either look at the Nexus 6 or switching carriers. I'm quite tired of the carrier I PAY telling me what I can and can't do with devices I PAY for.

Advanced Calling 1.0 still has a way to go to meet coast to coast operations. That Nexus you may want has a 2 to 5 month wait I was reading today for most carriers. Hope it all works out for you.
I feel they should have tested this in smaller markets to start with. Randomly losing service on an Advanced Calling capable device just because it's Advanced Calling capable is a pretty bad issue. This issue means I need to either ditch the iPhone, Verizon or both depending on whose fault this is. I'm already looking at the Moto X 2 but there is not bootloader unlocked version of the 2nd gen on Verizon, so that's one more choice they have removed for me. T-Moble and sadly even AT&T are offering me more choices at similar or better pricing.
