Saved, secured wifi connection issue with Droid Turbo

My Droid Turbo won't connect to the wifi I have at work. After I enter the password for the network I get a saved, secured with WPA/WPA2 message but it never actually connects to the network. My work IT suggested doing a factor reset which had no impact. I haven't had a problem connecting to any other wifi networks. I have no idea what to do now.

I'm sorry for any issues in connecting to the Wifi network at your employer. Though we don't have access to that other network, I'd still like to ask if you were able to connect to it before? What error message do you get? Are other employees able to access your work Wifi with no problem?

I've never successfully connected to the network at my employer. I don't get an actual error message, it will just say that it is connecting, then switch to the saved, secured with wpa/wpa2 message without ever showing a connected option. I have the tell when wifi is available option turned on and my phone will recognize that the network is available and give me the pop up to connect, but it doesn't ever work.

The wifi strength doesn't make a difference either. My coworkers all have different phone models (some are also verizon, some are also android) and don't have any issues connecting. I've tried forcing it to connect and it goes through the same process, and I've also verified that I'm using the correct password.

I know this is frustrating Juniper111984 but we are here to help. Are you using a 3rd party connection. Have you spoken with your companies IT department about any security measures for using wifi? Do you have an issue with connecting to wifi at home or any other place outside of work?

I'm not sure what you mean by a 3rd party connection. The network I'm trying to connect to is a public wifi network at a hospital. I had a couple of the IT staff look at the phone but they couldn't find anything in the settings that was able to enable my phone to connect. As I mentioned above, I haven't had any problems connecting to any other wifi network I've tried.

It's very possible to "connect" to a wifi but not have any input or output if the network is set to block new devices. I know home routers can do this as I have mine set this way...to block all new devices even with password. They connect, but then do nothing and since there is no data flow the devices will just save the network.

I just purchased this phone yesterday (2/9) and I am having the same exact problem. I had the Droid Maxx prior and I had no issues connecting to my company WiFi with that phone. Now I can't and my data is racking up. I am starting to think this is a ploy by Verizon in order to rack up data usage.

I read somewhere that there will be a "fix" until then I have taken to turning off the data on the phone while at work and turning it on when I leave. It would take some doing in the IT department to make it work and that is not happening here & there is probably a glitch in the phone, although it connects to every other wifi in town!!

I took my phone to the IT department here at work and they have absolutly no idea why it would not connect. They have no restrictions as far and devices so it is obviously a glitch with the phone itself. I am still in my trial period and while I really like the features of this phone I may have to switch to a Samsung Galaxy.

I just bought my Droid Turbo and am having the same problem. I have always been able to get onto my work's wifi and have no problems with any other wifi.

After much research (and no help from Verizon) there is an issue with this phone and older versions of Cisco routers. If your company is willing and able to upgrade their entire structure to the new firmware (my won't for one person) then we just have to hope a fix is released with the next system updated. My guess is if you ask your IT you are running that older Cisco router (which most companies are).

Hello. I had same issue and drove me nuts. It did it at work mostly but at times at home. I do not know what causes it but maybe same fix I used will work for you. Try to connect like normal. Make sure you save username and password. When it goes to the Saved prompt and moves to top of Wifi list but does not connect turn off phone. Turn back on and it will connect. I have no idea why but that works for me every single time. Hope that works for you. Thanks

I just bought a turbo, and I'm running into the same issue. The phone connects to WiFi at home just fine, and my previous phone used to connect to work WiFi just fine as well. But the turbo just wouldn't connect to WiFi at work.

My work WiFi doesn't have a MAC filter applied. You just need a public password to connect to it that's it.

Verizon owes this to their customers. Since turbo is a Verizon exclusive, they need to put all their weight on Motorola to get this resolved ASAP. This is basic functionality of a smart phone, and can't have it this badly broken.

Ooz - I am hoping that the Lollipop update fixes the issue. As I stated my company is not going to update their routers for one person. For now I just turn data off during the day. It sucks but I think this is Verizon's way of getting you to pay the overages. I can't believe that this phone has been in market since Oct. and its a known problem and it hasn't been fixed yet.

This isn't the solution. Just log in with your domain credentials thusly:

domain\username

There's a quirk in the supplicant. I have a thread explaining it better over at XDA-developers. Just Google search for 'droid turbo wireless issue (Cisco wlc)'. Hope this helps.

They are so full of it because I contacted Verizon as well as Motorola and this whole thread is on the Verizon site. I swear it's their way of getting people to use more data so they can make more money. It's ridiculous!!!!! I wish I would have left Verizon when I had the chance.

We discovered (through trial and error) this device will NOT connect to a Cisco wireless network if WPA2 and AES are a choice. It has to be WPA – TKIP as the ONLY choice.

Connects right away.

Please go read the thread on XDA. I outlined the comment below. Do not lower your security posture to accommodate this phone. I attempted this in my troubleshooting steps, but I wasn't going to entertain leaving it that way even for a minute.

is there a solution on the client end? Now my company (using Cisco router) needs to make a firmware upgrade? I'm using my old razr in the office like a pda and using my phone as a paper weight. Oh wait, verizon customer service says there is no documented issue. Again, it must be my imagination.

I agree with you! But this solution was for a public wireless network that is setup with encryption, so the fix was an acceptable one.

Mine has the same issue on the open network here at work. My old phone,everybody else's works fine. Not the turbo. Ditched the unlimited plan and not liking this at all.

Just try calling tech support. They will tell you its not a documented problem. Unfortunately for me Verizon provides the best coverage in my area and they seem to know it. I will drop them as soon as I can

Well. Now I'm carrying my old phone connected to WiFi and tethered to my new phone. Just wonderful.

After my frustrating Verizon customer support call, I was given the opportunity to take a brief survey in which I rated them a zero. A few weeks later Verizon called me for more information and have them the whole story including info on this thread. Now it doesn't mean they've done anything, but I tried to make someone aware of the problem. If you get a chance rate them give them zeros.

Same issue with apple airport routers at work droid will connect but phone reboots non stop until you turn WiFi off have to carry two phones one just to WiFi this is bs never had a phone yet that wouldn't connect suppose to have s fix with 5.1 but by the time Verizon gets around to that prob will be time to ditch this for another phone

I have unfortunately had the same issue. My IT person has looked into this issue and cannot figure out why I am not able to connect. My Razr Maxx HD connected with no problem, my co-workers on Apple, Samsung and another Motorola phone are able to connect, just not me on the Turbo. I also have another issue with the phone. It beeps as if I am pressing a button on the dial keypad when talking to random people. One is on a cell and the other two are on landline phones. Due to these two issues, I took the phone back to Costco (Wireless Advocates) and exchanged the phone for the same one thinking I had just gotten a lemon, however, same issues are occurring! Now the beeps are just louder and longer with the new phone. I am totally frustrated. I have been on the Android bandwagon from day 1 but completely disgusted. I pay this much money for a brand new phone and can't use it properly. Also have the issue of data being used while I am on the one wireless network that seems to work properly for me, home. No way data should be used while I am connected to the wireless network and while I am asleep. Usage at midnight, 2 am, 5 am ... just ridiculous. This phone is a dud! @VZWSupport

Just bought two of these droid turbo phones and I can't believe after 6 mo's this issue has not been resolved.

Had a razr maxx hd and razr hd with no issues but can't connect to home or work networks using wpa psk with the turbo's. I had to revert to wep at home and no love at work.
