"When I open it"... when you open what? Are you trying to log in to MyVerizon via the phone? Logging in to your account on the phone has nothing to do with sending and receiving emails. If you have the MyVerizon widget or app enabled, it is probably trying to log in to update your usage stats.
Go into your apps, and try to open My Verizon. Can you log in? Does this stop the error messages?
On a galaxy s5 the notification bar at top you can pull down and read total notification This message has nothing to do with logging in to my Verizon account . I have tried everything including tech people at Verizon who have no clue .There are others experiencing the same issues . Now if I could figure out how to get to incoming and outgoing mail settings and I change it to SSL I believe that will fix it
